From wheat to wine

Peter and Lyn Taylor established Across the Lake Wines when their sons Bevan and Royce took over the family's broadacre wheat and sheep farming enterprise at Lake Grace.

1n 1999, Peter and Lyn decided to plant two hectares of Shiraz grapes in Lake Grace, a town way outside the recognised grape growing areas of Western Australia.

Across the Lake's first vintage was in 2002, but we did not exhibit until 2003, when it won a bronze award at the Mount Barker Qantas Wine Show.

2004 was an exceptional vintage, winning silver awards at the Perth Royal Show and Mount Barker Show.

The 2005 vintage confirmed that the Lake Grace area is suited to wine growing, with our first Gold Award at Western Australia's premier Qantas Wine Show in Mount Barker.

The 2007 Shiraz won a Silver Trophy for the 2nd best Shiraz in WA at the Sheraton Wine show.

We would like to express our appreciation and recognition of the talents of our wine maker, Diane Miller and her team of Vintage Wineworx in the Porongurups. Diane is very pleased with the quality of the fruit from Lake Grace and, with the correct amount of oak, has produced exceptional wines for us.
